A dip in the cool water and then another in the crowd – here you can do both. After all, every Saturday, the area around the Grabeneck Brunnen is teeming with visitors to the flea market who are looking for bargains. The impressive fountain has been on display at the north-east corner of the square since 1779. Right next to it is the Petersgraben. What? A moat? Where? Nowhere, but a moat actually ran along the old city wall here until the late Middle Ages. After the great earthquake of 1356, the wall was extended further around the Old Town, the moat was filled in and turned into a road over time.
