BILDRAUSCH - FILMFEST BASEL has a birthday! For the 10th time we celebrate the infinite variety of cinema - during five days Basel becomes a film lighthouse in the border triangle.
We invite you to discover the cinema and the net, to meet in the new festival centre, to wander through the city, on the way to our numerous partners - always with due caution. In 2021 we will continue to link Basel with the world, yesterday with today. In our homages, the private and the political overlap, and the present is only revealed by looking in the rear-view mirror. The new programme series Kaleidoscope shows the whole spectrum of contemporary filmmaking and in the Competition we present current artistic positions. These films, their protagonists and their makers are self-confident. They confront the seriousness of the situation sometimes with humour, sometimes with punk and also with a strong yes to a happy ending. A bright glow in challenging times.
